The couple met at a Halloween party all the way back in 2017, and had a connection from the get-go. The small talk was skipped and they spent the entire party talking about their ambitions, hopes and dreams.
When it was all over, and everyone had left, they still weren’t ready to say goodbye so Maciek made the rash decision to walk Chloe-and best friend Jack- home at 3am (despite having never been in Greystones before!).
After remaining friends for a year, Maciek took a chance in January 2019 by offering to take Chloe to go see the newest Star Wars movie, Star Wars being a joint passion of theirs.
Their first date consisted of eating burgers and slating DC for being trash in comparison to Marvel. Relived that they shared the same opinions on this controversial topic, they made things official February 4th 2019.
The couple did long distance for two years, once for Chloe’s Erasmus in 2019/20, where she studied at Sciences Po in Paris and the second in 2021/22 while Chloe taught at the Sorbonne Nouvelle university in Paris, while Maciek stayed in Dublin to complete his Bachelors degree.
The couple made the most of the situation, flying back and forth and exploring life in France to its fullest - visiting the Moulin Rouge, getting annual passes to Disneyland, trying all the cuisine the city had to offer.
They both believe that they wouldn’t be as happy as they are today had they not been through this experience-they came out the other end with more knowledge, more patience and more appreciation for each other! (And a deep attachment to France)
Maciek started planning the engagement in July of 2022, right after helping Chloe move back to Ireland. He planned it for the 31st of October of that year, on the exact day that they met 5 years prior.
He picked every detail based around what he thought Chloe would like and focused on how he wanted her to feel special on the day. The help of family and the Maid of Honour, Carolann, was enlisted to plan an elaborate surprise in Powerscourt Hotel.
For weeks prior Carolann had been pretending that she won a draw for a night away in the hotel, and had asked Chloe to go with her on a girls night. She committed to the role-even bringing an overnight bag with her in the car on their way to the hotel! It worked and Chloe suspected nothing! Luckily, after the initial shock wore off SHE SAID YES!
